1. Warm up
This chapter continues to work on the two-octave ascending and descending scales in major keys – only three more scales to complete! These three scales with many sharps and flats are somewhat difficult to play, so practice repeatedly with patience.
Here are several tips to keep in mind:
- Try to play each note clearly and precisely.
- Try to move your hands in unison, pressing each key at the same time.
- Try not to slip, especially when it comes to the weak fingers.
- It is always better to practice loudly, slowly, and confidently rather than passively and softly. Playing fast will never work if you cannot play it slowly.
Apply the rhythmic scale(a) and staccato(b) for each exercise for clarity and accuracy.
