Since the previous section required an intense effort to complete, this project will be a bit less intensive. The goal of this creative project is to play a keyboard duet and improvise on the original score. The project is designed to teach cooperation, encourage students to really listen to what they are playing, and inspire joy in musical creation through improvisation.
This is “When the Saints Go Marching In,” arranged for four hands. Play it with your classmate or with the instructor. It is in the key of D major, employing F-sharp and C-sharp throughout the piece.
First, follow the score and practice it as written. Once you have a feel for it and are comfortable with the notes, try to add some rhythmic and melodic fillers or change the characteristics of the original piece.
